Thilda Olsdotter was born on 5 March 1857 in Boarp, Hjarnarp, Sweden. She was the youngest of ten
children born to Ola Sonensson and Johanna Nilsdotter.
On 2 May 1879 the passenger list from Goetborg, Sweden lists Ludvig (i.e. Charles) Hendriksson and Thilda
(i.e. Mathilda) Olsson as departing on the same ship with ticket numbers 1357 and 1356.
Mathilda Olsson Hendricks
After settling in Worcester, MA on 23 August 1879 she was married to Carl Ludwig Hendrickson by an Episcopal
clergyman. At the time there were no Swedish Lutheran churches in Worcester. Mr. & Mrs. Carl L. Hendrickson were listed
among the founding members of the Swedish Evangelical Lutheran Gethsemane Church.
In 1885, Mathilda, age twenty-nine, along with her husband and three children, moved from Worcester to Holden.
Two more children were born in Holden.
Mathilda, who was diabetic, died of pneumonia on 7 April 1926, age sixty-nine. She is buried in Grove Cemetery,
Holden, MA.
